City dads may drop case vs 4 brgy execs
BY FELIPE CELINO
ROXAS City — The Sangguniang Panlungsod was poised to drop the administrative case filed against four officials of Brgy. Libas here after the complainants filed a joint affidavit of desistance.
The respondents in the case were Libas Barangay Captain Richard Arrojado, kagawads Cesar Arollado and Myrna Abareles, and Barangay Treasurer Zenaida Bacay.
They were accused of grave misconduct, acts prejudicial to the best interest of public service, and dereliction of duty.
The complainants were kagawads Solomon Alisasis, Dhonyl Alisasis Sr., Rodem Agnas, Noel Alba, Eribaldo Abareles and Clark Khevin Alisasis, the Sangguniang Kabataan chair.
In their joint affidavit dated February 12, 2013, the complainants said the filing of the case was brought about by misapprehension of facts surrounding the case and indifference against the respondents.
“To prevent hiatus in the delivery of services to our constituents, we deem it wise, as we hereby resolve, to settle such apathy with [the respondents] for the greater interest of public service, which we owe to render,” they said.
Last month, the barangay council of Libas held a session, the body’s first since Arrojado assumed his post after serving a 60-day suspension meted by the City Council in June last year.
All kagawads attended the session at the Teen Center here. Arrojado was in Iloilo for an official travel at the time.
Several issues were tackled in the session, among which were the barangay’s drainage projects, 20-percent development fund, and the barangay officials’ honorarium.
The kagawads agreed to hold another session when Arrojado returns.
