Abducted town worker freed

By: Jomarie A. Billones ROXAS City – An employee of the municipal government in Dumarao, Capiz was released by alleged captors Sunday afternoon. Paquito Habulin was freed unharmed somewhere in the remote area of Calinog, Iloilo after two nights and three days of captivity. S/Insp. Rowell Bucat, Dumarao police chief, said four unidentified armed men allegedly dragged Habulin into a car Friday afternoon at Poblacion Ilaya Dumarao while on his way to Brgy. Salcedo also the said town. Bucat said the victim and his wife were heading for Brgy. Salcedo on or about 3am to buy a pig when the suspects blocked their way. The victim’s wife was left unharmed by the suspects. The police chief said the victim is ready to give full details of what had happened to him while in the hand of his abductors. Police believe the abduction could be related to the shooting incident at the public market of Dumarao in December last year allegedly perpetuated by a gun-for-hire group. Habulin may have some vital information regarding the shooting incident where the victim died. Bucat said the police are ready to file charges against the suspects who abducted Habulin. Habulin is a regular employee of the town while his wife is a barangay kagawad of Poblacion Ilaya
