Nurse files complaint vs surgeon

BY FELIPE CELINO

ROXAS City — A nurse has filed a complaint against a surgeon at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for allegedly sexually harassing her. A letter-complaint has been filed the other day before the City Prosecutor’s Office against Dr. Silverio Pampliga of this city.

According to the nurse, Pampliga touched and squeezed her leg when she was about to get a receipt for a patient’s medicine at the hospital’s Doctors’ Lounge. She added that the surgeon, who will reportedly retire soon, even asked for a kiss, but she refused and left. Pampliga denied touching the leg of the nursing attendant but admitted to “accidentally touching” her foot.

Dr. Ma. Celini Buason, the chief of hospital, said a grievance committee was created to look into the complaint of the nurse. She assured that there will be no whitewash in the investigation. Pampliga will face reprimand or suspension if found guilty of sexual harassment, Buason said. Investigation results will be released as soon as the committee finishes the probe, she added.
