ROXAS City – Most of the Liberal Party’s (LP) candidates for next year’s mid-term elections are incumbent officials seeking reelection. Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas II named them over the weekend.
In a press conference at the Roxas residence in Brgy. Baybay here, the Secretary said the LP has a complete slate in the provincial, city and municipal levels.
Gov. Victor Tanco, Vice Gov. Esteban Evan “Nonoy’ Contreras and Capiz’s 1st District congressman Antonio del Rosario are all seeking reelection under the LP.
Roxas named incumbent Mayor Mary Andaya of Sigma, Capiz as the LP candidate for congresswoman in the 2nd Districtz.
Andaya’s son Vicente III or John-john will run for mayor of Sigma.
Andaya is the wife of late three-termer 2nd District congressman Vicente Andaya Jr.
Roxas said incumbent Roxas City mayor Angel Alan Celino, Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and seven city councilors will all seek reelection, too.
He gave Tanco, del Rosario and Celino the task to fill the complete slate of the LP in their turfs.
Meanwhile, three others seek to fill the three vacant slots in the City Council – Dr. Cesar Yap Jr., Katrina Almalbis-Ignacio, and possibly businesswoman Cora Balgos-Tianco.
Yap has ran for Provincial Board member in the 1st District of Capiz in the 2010 elections under the Ugyon Kita Capiz party but he lost.
Ignacio is the daughter of incumbent Councilor Teresa Almalbis who has opted not to run.
