ROXAS City — A businessman in this city died after he accidentally shot himself.

Jack Conlu of Brgy. Baybay was cleaning his firearm when it accidentally went off, said Senior Supt. Domingo Cabillan, provincial police director.

He was hit on the left side of the head, Cabillan said.

Conlu died a few hours after he was taken to the St. Anthony College Hospital here.

His family refused to be interviewed. They were in “a state of shock,” Cabillan said.

Conlu manages the Marc’s Beach Resort and the Gazebo Restaurant, both in Brgy. Baybay.

In another story, a 23-year-old man was stabbed in a restobar on Magallanes Street here. He died.

Raynan Bance was drinking with his friends, Arjel Vidal and Rowel Malondras, inside Quickie Resto Bar when unidentified men stabbed him, police said.

He succumbed to stab wounds on the chest and back.

He was taken to the St. Anthony College Hospital but died upon arrival.

Police recovered from the crime scene a cap and a pair of black slippers allegedly owned by Pedro Jamero, a resident of Brgy. II and a member of a civilian volunteer organization, and the suspect’s weapon, a nine-inch long stainless knife.
