2 laborers shot; 1 dies

ROXAS City — Two laborers were shot in separate incidents in Capiz recently.

One of them died while the other was confined in the hospital.

Police said Joan Silva, 33, of Brgy. Banban, Lambunao, Iloilo was shot by Glowen Castor, 25, of Brgy. Wright, Tapaz, Capiz.

Silva and Castor were having a drinking binge with two others at a store in Brgy. Wright on Sunday when a heated argument ensued between them.

Castor went away but later returned armed with a gun of an unknown caliber, police said.
Without much provocation, he shot Silva, hitting the latter on the chest.

Silva immediately died while the suspect fled, said Insp. Larnel Frial, Tapaz police chief.
The victim was taken to the Baranco Funeral Parlor in Calinog, Iloilo.

In a separate incident, an unidentified man shot Gregorio Besana alias “Greg,” 38, of Brgy. Tuburan, Maayon, Capiz on Monday.

He sustained a gunshot wound on his left side.

Besana is currently confined in the Saint Anthony College Hospital in this city.

Police said Besana was inside his house when a man armed with a gun of an unidentified caliber passed by and shot the victim.
