Road rehab to better accessibility in Panitan

PANITAN, Capiz — The rehabilitation and concreting of a farm-to-market road in Brgy. Intampilan here will greatly improve accessibility in this town, 1st District Rep. Antonio del Rosario said. It will also make business and trade prosper in the interior areas here, he added. Del Rosario and other government officials the other day led the groundbreaking for the P16-million infrastructure project.

The road project is one of the congressman’s priority projects in the 1st District. It involves the concreting of about 1.24 kilometers of gravel road. Del Rosario said the fund for the project was provided by the Department of Agriculture. According to the solon, the road project will provide convenience to the residents, farmers and entrepreneurs in the town. 

Aside from residents of Brgy. Intampilan, those from barangays Salocon and Timpas in Panitan, and Adlawan, Cabugao, Jumaguicjic, Liong, Lonoy and San Jose in Roxas City, will also benefit from the project, said First Engineering District Engr. Sanny Boy Oropel. Present during the groundbreaking were Panitan Vice Mayor Generoso Derramas and some incumbent and former Sangguniang Bayan members, Roxas City Councilor Emmanuel Billones Jr., and barangay captains and kagawads from various Panitan villages. Meanwhile, del Rosario said he wanted all households in remote areas in the 1st District to avail themselves of his free electrification program. 

He said his office will provide all the necessary electrical materials, including the meter. All the people had to pay for are their membership and their monthly electricity consumption, he said. Del Rosario also vowed to deliver more projects to Brgy. Intampilan in the next few years.
