Serve with commitment, public servants told

ROXAS City — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) was reminding public servants to make service to the people as a commitment. Public office is a public trust, thus, the best service should be afforded to the people with commitment and dedication, said CSC-Capiz Director Maria Lina Gonzaga. Gonzaga called on civil servants to love their work with utmost sincerity and honesty to serve best the people, especially the needy.

Public service should be the first priority in entering government service instead of money, she said in a briefing on the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA) with employees of the Capiz PhilHealth Service Office headed by Joe Frederick Diaz. The briefing was part of the activities during the on-the-spot inspection of government offices with frontline services to the public. ARTA Watchers headed by Gonzaga, together with the news media and the Philippine Information Agency, had already inspected PhilHealth, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Department of Trade and Industry, Social Security System, Government Service Insurance System, and the frontline offices of provincial and city governments here.

The ARTA Watch was being conducted during lunch time to check on the observance of the “no-noon break” policy. ARTA Watchers also looked into the posting of the Citizen’s Charter; wearing of ARTA compliant identification cards; special lanes for senior citizens, pregnant women and persons with disabilities; and the setting up of public assistance and complaints desk, among others, including the signages on anti-fixing and no-noon break. The on-the-spot inspection was a follow-up activity of the report card survey conducted on frontline offices. (Jemin B. Guillermo, PIA-6 Capiz
