ROXAS City — The city government has installed 10 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in strategic areas and facilities in the metro.
The monitoring system for the cameras was placed at the Roxas City Hall, Mayor Angel Alan Celino said.
CCTV cameras and other monitoring devices will help prevent criminality, the mayor said.
They will also help local law enforcers in the identification, apprehension and prosecution of suspects, he added.
In the province, ex-officio Capiz Provincial Board member Zoe Maria Felipe Herrera urged the provincial government to install CCTV cameras at the Provincial Capitol.
In a resolution approved last week, Herrera said: “The honorable (Gov. Victor Tanco) is encouraged to employ strategies and means to keep our provincial government facilities and offices crime-free and ward off criminals.”
The Sangguniang Kabataan provincial federation president stressed that the CCTV cameras will supplement existing security systems in the province.
“It is the policy of the State to protect life and property, under Article II Section 5 of our Constitution,” he said.
