Election officers face reshuffling

ROXAS City — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will have a total reshuffling of its election officers in line with the mid-term elections next year. “No one will be exempted,” said Provincial Election Supervisor Wil Arceño. He confirmed that he will be transferred to another province.

Election officers will be returned to their respective areas after the polls, he said. Meanwhile, the Election Registration Board (ERB) is concurrently conducting hearing on several petitions for exclusion from the voters’ list. Of the 32 registered voters in Brgy. Poblacion Norte, Ivisan town, for instance, 10 were slashed from the list after they failed to appear in the hearing. 

The ERB is also conducting hearing on the petitions for exclusion in Panay. The final list of registered voters in the province will be released soon, Arceño said. There was a tremendous increase in the number of voters in Capiz after the registration deadline on October 31, local Comelec records showed. The entire province had an estimated number of voters of 456,360. Local governments with the highest number of voters include this capital city (92,505), Panay (32,371) and Tapaz (30,030). Cuartero had the lowest with 17,505.
