Guv’s bodyguard ‘slaps’ driver

BY FELIPE CELINO

ROXAS City — The bodyguard of Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. is in hot water after allegedly slapping a jeepney driver. Richard Flor complained to the city police that Orlito Villarino slapped him on the face the other day.

He said Villarino also took his driver’s license after the motorcycle driven by the bodyguard’s son accidentally hit the rear of his jeepney. Villarino, who was onboard another motorcycle, was tailing his son at the time. Upon seeing the incident, Villarino drove past the jeepney and signaled its driver, Flor, to stop. Flor told the police that Villarino also uttered invectives to him. According to Flor, Villarino told him to see him at the governor’s mansion in Brgy.

Lanot if he has any trouble with what the bodyguard did. Police said the jeepney passengers witnessed the incident. Villarino denied slapping the driver and using the governor’s name. He admitted to taking Flor’s driver’s license, but he said he returned it afterwards. Tanco instructed Provincial Administrator Jose Villanueva to investigate the incident. Villanueva said Villarino will face disciplinary measures, as what he did was tantamount to conduct unbecoming of a government employee.
